A Victorian ceramic presentation loving cup of waisted cylindrical form with a flared rim and stepped foot. The body is decorated with a large hand-painted polychrome floral study to one side featuring roses, pansies, and other wildflowers. The reverse features a gilded script inscription reading Wm Edwards Esq / 3 Waterdale / Wolverhampton / 1876. The vessel is further embellished with turquoise coloured enamel bands and extensive gilding to the rim, foot, and twin scrolling handles. The underside of the base bears a hand-painted inscription in black script reading A Token of Respect. No factory or manufacturer marks are present.
Condition report:
The vessel displays a fine and consistent network of age-related crazing to the glaze across the entire surface. There is minor rubbing and surface wear to the gilding, most notably on the top rim. No chips, cracks, or signs of professional restoration are visible.
