A 2018 Jubilee Mint silver gold-plated Tristan da Cunha five pound coin commemorating the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The coin is a Piedfort proof strike, featuring a full-colour photograph of the couple on the reverse within a circular border, inscribed ‘THE ROYAL WEDDING 19TH MAY 2018’ and ‘FIVE POUNDS’. The obverse displays a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the inscriptions ‘ELIZABETH II’, ‘D.G. REGINA F.D.’, ‘TRISTAN DA CUNHA’, and the year ‘2018’. The coin is housed in a circular clear plastic capsule and presented in a black case, the white satin-effect interior lid of which is printed in gold-coloured ink with a crown logo and ‘JUBILEE MINT’.
Accompanying documentation includes a Certificate of Authenticity from The Jubilee Mint, signed ‘Michael J. Byrne’. The certificate specifies the metal as ‘Solid 925/1000 Sterling Silver’ with ’24-Carat Gold’ plating, a weight of ‘50.00g’, and a diameter of ‘38.61mm’. It further notes an edition limit of 199 pieces. The certificate includes a printed descriptive text regarding the marriage and the charitable interests of the couple.
Condition report:
The coin remains in its protective plastic capsule and appears to be in excellent condition (photo 1). The presentation case shows no visible signs of wear or damage to the exterior or the printed interior lining (photo 2). The certificate is clean and legible with a single horizontal fold consistent with its placement in the case (photo 3).
