This lot comprises a vintage Jones Meccano Lockstitch toy sewing machine constructed from cream-coloured plastic with metal mechanical components. The hand-operated machine features a manual balance wheel on the right side and is designed for functional lockstitch sewing. A red rectangular label on the arm bears the word MECCANO in silver-toned lettering, while a matching label on the base is inscribed LOCKSTITCH and MADE IN ENGLAND. The machine is presented with its original moulded black and white speckled Styrofoam base insert, which has an adhesive yellowed paper instruction sheet attached. This instructional diagram bears the names JONES MECCANO and LOCKSTITCH and includes a multilingual table identifying machine parts one through eleven. This lot comprises the sewing machine, packaging materials and the patterned blankets shown in the images.
Condition report:
The plastic body shows general surface wear and some yellowing consistent with age (photo 1). There is visible adhesive tape residue on the front arm directly above the manufacturer badge (photo 1). The metal needle bar and presser foot appear intact, though the balance wheel shows some minor surface oxidation (photo 1). The original Styrofoam insert remains structurally sound, though the attached instruction sheet is heavily yellowed, brittle, and features a square aperture cut through the central illustration (photo 3).
