A set of four Polish style pyrography decorated wooden nesting boxes. Each rectangular box is constructed from wood and features a lidded closure. The lids are ornamented with central floral motifs, including multi-petaled blossoms and leafy sprigs, created using pyrography techniques. These designs are set against a natural light wood ground and are enclosed within intricate borders of scrolling and circular geometric patterns. The sides of each box are finished with a dark brown stain, providing a contrast to the decorated lids. The boxes are designed to fit inside one another as a nesting set. One box bears a white adhesive label reading Shobrook & Co, 183, Plymouth and a piece of blue tape with the handwritten characters P1206W.
Condition report:
The boxes are in fair condition with visible wear consistent with age and use. There are surface scratches and minor scuffing to the dark stained finish on the sides of the largest box (photo 1). The lids show some wear to the pyrography decoration and natural wood surfaces, with minor indentations and light scratches visible (photo 2). No significant structural damage is apparent.
