A collection of seven assorted lead crystal and glass decanters in various forms and cutting patterns. The lot features a tall, rectangular-bodied decanter with canted corners and deep starburst cutting, topped with a multi-faceted ball stopper. Also included is a smaller square-form decanter with similar starburst decoration and a faceted ball stopper. The group further comprises a minimalist square-bodied decanter with polished plain sides and a geometric emerald-cut style stopper, and a bulbous-bodied decanter with a triple-ring neck and radial wedge-cut disc stopper. Completing the assortment is a barrel-shaped decanter with overall diamond cutting, a slender pear-shaped decanter with diamond and leaf-cut decoration to the body and flame-shaped stopper, and a modern cylindrical decanter with horizontal hoop-etched detailing and a domed stopper. The high refractive clarity and prismatic highlights visible in the cut patterns suggest high lead crystal content for the majority of the pieces. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are legible on the bases or bodies of the pieces. One stopper features a frosted ground neck intended for a tight seal.
Condition report:
The collection shows good clarity with no significant internal cloudiness or glass sickness visible in the photographs. No major chips, cracks, or repairs are noted on the bodies or stoppers (Photos 1-8). As is common with vintage glassware, minor surface scratches to the bases and microscopic flea-bite nicks to the sharp edges of the cutting may be present upon close inspection.
