This lot comprises a collection of ceramic and earthenware tableware and decorative items including pieces by Spode and Belleek. The group features a large white glazed earthenware jardiniere with relief-molded floral motifs and gilt highlights to the petals and scalloped rim. Blue and white transferware is represented by a large oval platter in the Willow pattern, which bears an impressed mark reading C to the reverse. The collection further includes two pieces of Spode Italian pattern ware: a shallow bowl and a lidded circular box. The bases are printed in black with marks reading Spode, MADE IN ENGLAND, ITALIAN, SPODE DESIGN, C.1816 V and C.1816 M respectively.
A pair of two hand-painted glazed ceramic figurines are included, depicted in 18th-century style costume. There are two small saucers with blue and yellow sprig patterns, both with printed marks reading Jersey Pottery C.I. to the underside. A hexagonal Belleek Parian porcelain dish features relief-molded shamrocks and a hand-painted rose, with a backstamp reading MILLENNIUM 2000, BELLEEK, EST. 1857, IRELAND around a central crest. The assortment is completed by a glazed stoneware candlestick with molded leaf decoration, bearing an adhesive label for the Dartington Cider Press Centre.
Condition report:
The Willow pattern platter exhibits extensive surface crazing and significant brown discoloration to the reverse. Fine underglaze crazing is present on the white jardiniere. The remaining items appear in generally good condition with minor shelf wear consistent with age and use.
