This lot comprises a Lladro glazed polychrome porcelain figurine titled Eskimo Riders, also known by the Spanish title Esquimales Sobre Osito. The piece depicts two children dressed in traditional hooded winter parkas riding upon the back of a polar bear. The figurine is finished in a high-gloss glaze with a soft palette of blue, brown, and grey polychrome tones. The underside of the base features a blue underglaze backstamp consisting of a bell logo above the word LLADRÓ, followed by HAND MADE IN SPAIN and © DAISA 1985. The base is further marked with the incised model number 5353, a C within a circle, and the characters D-12 J. The lot includes the original grey factory presentation box, which carries a printed label reading 05353, ESQUIMALES SOBRE OSITO, and ESKIMO RIDERS. A retail adhesive sticker for £170.00 is also attached to the box exterior.
Condition report:
The figurine is in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, or signs of repair to the porcelain (photos 1-5). The glaze remains bright and is free from crazing. The original presentation box is included and shows minor shelf wear and light scuffing to the corners (photo 6).
