A collection of costume jewellery and accessories including F. J. Whitcher examples with a presentation case. The lot comprises a diverse assortment of items including necklaces, bracelets, bangles, brooches, and pins. Materials utilised include base metals, enamel, art glass, faux pearls, and polished stones. Notable pieces include a double-strand of peach-toned faux pearls, a multi-strand faux pearl bracelet with multicoloured rhinestone-set spacers, and an articulated segmented bracelet. The collection features various brooches and pins, including seven hat pins on a card, a circular millefiori glass brooch, and enamel pins with animal and floral motifs. Polished stones include agate style teardrops and a heart-shaped stone with a malachite style pattern. The green velvet-lined presentation case features a gold printed mark to the interior lid reading F. J. WHITCHER JEWELLER 4 WALLINGFORD ST. WANTAGE. A small white adhesive label is present inside the box marked J624 K. No other maker’s marks are legible on the individual items.
Condition report:
The items exhibit surface tarnish and oxidation to various metal components, particularly on the chain links and pin backs (photo 1). Light surface scratching is visible on the polished stones and larger beads (photo 3). The velvet presentation case shows signs of internal wear and slight fraying to the edges (photo 1). A minor accumulation of dust is visible across the surfaces of the lot (photo 2).
