A collection of silver jewellery and coinage including a sterling silver Albert chain and a shield-shaped fob medal. The chain features a graduated curb-link construction and is fitted with a T-bar and a swivel clasp. The suspended fob medal is designed with foliate engraving surrounding a central vacant polished shield. The reverse of the fob medal bears an impressed anchor, a lion passant, and a lowercase letter ‘o’ in a shaped shield. A maker’s mark reading ‘W.H.H’ is impressed beneath these marks. These hallmarks identify the piece as sterling silver assayed in Birmingham in 1913, manufactured by W. H. Haseler Ltd. The associated coinage includes a Queen Victoria 1888 silver florin, a George V 1920 silver florin, silver threepences dated 1890 and 1933, and a United States silver Mercury dime. The coins show varying stages of circulation wear and surface tarnishing.
Condition report:
The silver chain and fob medal exhibit general surface tarnishing and light scratches throughout (photo 1). The hallmarks on the reverse of the fob medal are clear and legible (photo 2). The coinage displays significant surface wear, abrasions, and edge knocks consistent with circulation (photo 3). The United States Mercury dime is heavily worn with substantial loss of detail (photo 3).
