A collection of three Art Deco style amber or resin cigar holders in two fitted cases. The collection consists of two tapered holders fashioned from a dark cherry-red translucent material, each featuring a polished silver-toned metal band. The third holder is constructed from an orange-toned translucent material, possibly amber, and is mounted with a yellow metal band. A polished gold band to the orange holder is impressed with the characters 18CT, followed by an oval cartouche containing the letters G and P, and the text PAT. 850. Other marks are present on this band but are too blurred to be legibly transcribed. The items are presented in two rectangular cases with rounded ends, covered in a dark brown textured material and lined with cream-coloured fabric.
Condition report:
The outer surfaces of both cases show significant surface abrasion, scuffing, and substantial losses to the brown finish (photo 2). The cream-coloured interior linings display staining and foxing consistent with age (photo 1 and 3). The translucent mouthpieces show minor surface scratches and evidence of prior use throughout. The silver-toned metal bands on the red holders exhibit surface dulling and light tarnish. The gold band on the orange holder remains bright with minor surface wear.
