This lot comprises a pair of two Danish Scancraft Design teak style folding garden armchairs. The chairs are constructed from a reddish-brown hardwood with a prominent grain, featuring a high backrest with five vertical slats and a seat comprised of seven horizontal slats. The frames incorporate curved armrests and a folding X-frame base secured with brass-toned metal hardware, allowing the chairs to fold flat for compact storage. On the reverse of the top back rail, an oval metal plaque is riveted to the wood, with text that reads Danish SCAN C R A F T Design. This lot comprises the chairs only; the pots, crates, and vehicle shown in the background are not included.
Condition report:
The pair of chairs displays signs of outdoor use and weathering consistent with age. One chair is significantly more weathered than the other, exhibiting a faded greyish patina and a lack of original finish (photo 1). Both items show an accumulation of surface dust and dark organic spotting across the slats (photo 3). Surface scuffs, scratches, and wear are visible on the armrests and the leading edges of the legs (photo 4). The brass-toned metal hinges and fasteners exhibit surface oxidation and tarnishing (photo 5).
