The obverses feature a right-facing profile portrait of the explorer accompanied by the legend ‘TO COMMEMORATE THE VOYAGES OF CAPTAIN JAMES COOK’ and a facsimile signature reading ‘James Cook’. The reverses are decorated with various maritime scenes and vessels including ‘HMS ENDEAVOUR’ and ‘HMS RESOLUTION’, set against etched backgrounds of nautical maps.
