A collection of six West German hand-painted earthenware figurines produced by the Goebel factory and based on the original illustrations of M.I. Hummel. The collection features various rustic child characters, including a girl tending two geese, a boy walking with a wooden staff, and children interacting with birds whilst perched on fences. The pieces are decorated with a matte glaze and earth-toned palettes characteristic of the manufacturer. Most bases feature a blue underglaze stamp comprising a large stylised V with a bumblebee inside, accompanied by text reading either W. Goebel W. Germany or © by W. Goebel W. Germany. Several figurines bear an incised M. J. Hummel signature along the rear edge of the base. Visible incised production marks include 9., 53, 1936, 203 2/0, 1948, 112 3/0, and 1938. Two pieces retain printed title labels to the front reading She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not and Signs of Spring.

Condition report:

This collection shows several visible defects across multiple pieces. The figurine of a boy walking with a staff has a notable break and adhesive repair to the wooden staff just above the hand (photo 3). The figurine of a girl with geese shows a chip or crude repair to the rear of the headscarf near the left shoulder (photo 18). The figurine of a boy sitting on a fence with a flower has a small chip to the underside edge of the base (photo 16). Significant fine-line crazing to the glaze is visible on the Joyful (photo 9), Signs of Spring (photo 12), and Goose Girl (photo 17) models. All pieces show minor surface dirt and remnants of old adhesive labels (photo 1).
