A Hohner Student II piano accordion with twelve bass buttons. This instrument is constructed with a black celluloid casing and features a treble keyboard with twenty-six piano-style keys. The bass section comprises twelve buttons arranged in two rows of six. The central bellows are made from reinforced materials with a gold-tone finish and fabric edges. The treble grille consists of vertical black slats over a light-coloured fabric backing. On the front grille, there is a printed white mark reading ‘HOHNER’. Two further marks are printed in white block capitals on the top casing reading ‘HOHNER’ and ‘STUDENT II’. The accordion is fitted with brown leather shoulder straps attached to the side panels. This lot comprises the accordion only; the furniture and paper items shown in the background of the images are not included.

Condition report:

The instrument shows signs of vintage use throughout. The black casing exhibits surface scratches and light scuffing (photo 1). There is visible discolouration and yellowing to the bellows, with fraying noted at the corners and edges (photo 2). One of the white bass buttons shows more significant yellowing and patina compared to the others (photo 2). The treble keys have surface grime and minor markings consistent with play (photo 1). The leather shoulder straps are heavily worn with visible cracking and surface loss to the material (photo 1). The internal reeds and air-tightness of the bellows have not been tested.
