Sold for: £100
A Victorian style carved hardwood and blue upholstered chaise longue with three scatter cushions. The frame is constructed from a dark, polished hardwood, possibly mahogany, featuring an asymmetrical backrail with hand-carved floral and foliate scroll motifs. The piece is supported by four cabriole legs, the front two terminating in scroll feet. The chaise is upholstered in a blue, textured woven fabric finished with a bi-colour twisted rope gimp in shades of cream and pinkish-red. It is accompanied by three square scatter cushions in varying patterns, including a blue damask design and two geometric kilim-style fabrics. The piece bears no visible maker’s marks, labels, or signatures. This lot comprises the chaise longue and three cushions only; the rugs, ladder, and other interior items shown in the images are not included.
Condition report:
Multiple prominent circular stains and faded spots are visible on the blue seat upholstery, notably in the central and right-hand areas (photos 1, 7, 8, and 9). The fabric shows general surface wear and light fading consistent with domestic use (photo 1). The wood frame exhibits minor surface scuffs, scratches, and small nicks, particularly on the carved edges and lower legs, all commensurate with age (photos 4, 5, and 6). The decorative rope gimp appears largely intact but shows light surface fuzzing and minor fraying in isolated areas (photo 5). The piece appears structurally sound and stands level on its feet.
