Start price: £40

Estimated price: £40 - £80

Buyer's Premium: 20%

This lot comprises a late Victorian style pine asymmetric chest of seven drawers. The unit is constructed from knotty pine and finished with a honey-toned stripped and waxed surface. The arrangement consists of three small drawers across the top row, below which the chest is divided vertically to accommodate a column of two narrow drawers to the left and two wider drawers to the right. Each drawer is fitted with circular turned wood knobs, and the rectangular top features a simple moulded edge. The piece is set upon a solid plinth base with a shallow arched cutout to the front elevation. No manufacturer’s marks, labels, or stamps are present on the exterior or visible interior surfaces of the chest. This lot comprises the chest of drawers only; the decorative items, furniture, and flooring shown in the background and on the surface are not included.

Condition report:

The chest is in good used condition with signs of age and wear. There are surface scratches, minor indentations, and small dings across the top and drawer fronts (photo 1). Minor staining is visible to the left side, and there is wear to the finish along the top edges and around the base (photo 1). A small chip is present on the right-hand knob of the second wide drawer from the top (photo 1). The overall structure appears sound and the drawers are well-aligned.
