This lot comprises a pair of two framed decorative prints including a Vincent van Gogh Iris and a Rembrandt style portrait. The primary item is a large-format reproduction of the portrait The Man with the Golden Helmet, depicting an elderly man in profile wearing an ornate embossed helmet. The print is housed in a wide gilt-composition frame decorated with high-relief foliate, shell, and floral motifs. The second item is a reproduction of the Vincent van Gogh composition Iris, set within a gold-toned arched frame featuring rose-patterned mouldings at the crest and base. This piece remains in its original black retail box with a printed paper band reading 11 X 14 INCHES (28 X 36 CM), Iris, and Vincent van Gogh. The band also contains a biographical blurb stating that Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) was a Dutch Post-Impressionist whose fame grew after his tragic death. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible on the larger portrait or its frame.
Condition report:
The large gilt-composition frame shows minor surface dust and light wear to the finish along the outer edges (photo 1). The print surface appears intact with no visible crazing or tears (photo 3). The Van Gogh print and arched frame are in very good condition and appear unused within the original retail packaging (photo 2).
