This lot comprises a Pakistani Kazak Super style hand knotted wool rug. The rug is constructed with a 100 per cent wool pile on a cotton foundation, featuring a traditional geometric design. The central field is a deep indigo blue, dominated by a large cream diamond-shaped medallion with a red cross motif, flanked by two large red stepped medallions and various smaller geometric and zoomorphic elements in cream, light blue, and madder red. A wide madder-red main border decorated with repeating floral and geometric vine motifs frames the central field, further enclosed by multiple decorative guard stripes. Two paper manufacturer labels are attached to the reverse corner. One printed label reads Piece No. 525458, Design KAZAK SUPER, PILE: 100% NEW WOOL, and Pakistan. The second label, which is partially folded, reads 525458, CMS 281 X 188 =, % 100 WOOL PILE, and HAND WOVEN IN PAKISTAN.
281 cm x 188 cm (from manufacturer label).
Condition report:
The rug is in excellent condition with no visible signs of wear or damage. The wool pile appears even and full across the entire surface (photo 1). The colours remain vibrant and saturated throughout (photo 3). The side selvages are intact and well-secured, and the short fringe at both ends shows no significant fraying (photo 2 and 4). No stains, odours, or previous repairs are visible.
