This lot comprises two occasional tables of varying construction and style. The first table features an oval top with a scalloped piecrust edge, finished in a four-way book-matched flame mahogany style veneer. It is supported by four slender cabriole legs terminating in pad feet, joined by an X-stretcher carrying a central scalloped platform shelf. The second piece is an octagonal occasional table constructed from dark-stained wood, featuring a solid top with a moulded edge. It stands on four decorative bobbin-turned legs which are joined by a square-section cross stretcher. Neither table shows any visible maker’s marks, labels, or stamps to the surfaces, stretchers, or undersides.
Condition report:
The mahogany style piecrust table shows a significant triangular loss to the veneer on the top surface, measuring approximately two to three inches in length (photo 2). There is general wear and scuffing to the legs and feet consistent with age (photo 1). The octagonal table displays visible surface scratches, small indentations, and wear to the finish across the top (photo 3). The bobbin-turned base appears structurally sound but exhibits minor age-related scuffing to the legs and stretcher (photo 5).
