An autumnal woodland landscape painting in oil on canvas by V. Williams. The composition depicts a prominent central deciduous tree with vibrant golden-yellow and orange foliage, situated beside a woodland path to the left and a small weir flowing into a river on the right. In the distance, soft blue hills are visible beneath a pale, hazy sky. The work is executed in a representational style with loose brushwork and localised areas of heavy impasto texture, particularly on the trunk of the central tree and the foreground bank. The painting is signed in the lower right corner in dark paint as V. WILLIAMS. It is housed in a dark-stained, moulded wooden frame with a narrow gilt-effect inner slip.
Condition report:
The painting exhibits a light accumulation of surface dirt and dust across the canvas (photo 1). The wooden frame shows minor handling scuffs and small losses to the finish along the edges (photo 1). A small green adhesive inventory sticker is present on the lower-left corner of the frame (photo 1). Hanging wires are visible extending from the top of the frame (photo 1).
