This lot comprises two single wooden bed frames and two accompanying mattresses. The frames are constructed from knotty pine and feature a traditional design with arched panels to the headboard and footboard, which are both surmounted by turned finials on the corner posts. The lot includes the headboard, footboard, and side rails. The lower cross-rail of the footboard bears a small rectangular metal plaque, though the characters are not clearly legible. The mattress is finished with a patterned damask-style fabric and bears a large burgundy and gold manufacturer’s label. This label reads ‘Airsprung B·E·D·S’, ‘CLASSIC COLLECTION’, ‘DAKOTA’, and ‘It’s An Airsprung Relax’. The text on the label states the mattress includes ‘Individually tempered, bonnell springs providing a healthy support system and outstanding durability’, ‘Perimeter edge support to help prevent “roll off”‘, ‘A range of luxurious cushioning upholstery layers to encourage natural sleep’, and a ‘Quality fabric cover, tailored to give a deep, sumptuous sleeping surface’. The label also confirms that the product ‘conforms to BS7177 flammability standard for domestic use’. The top border of the label notes ‘TO ENSURE YEARS OF COMFORT AND SUPPORT THIS MATTRESS SHOULD BE TURNED REGULARLY’.
Condition report:
The pine frames show typical signs of use including scattered surface scratches, minor indentations, and natural darkening of the wood characteristic of knotty pine (photo 3). The mattresses appear in good, clean used condition with no significant staining or major wear visible (photo 1).
