Sold

A pair of two late 20th-century decorative wall mirrors comprising one Italian gilt-finished cast metal mirror and one bronze-toned molded resin mirror. The first mirror is designed in an ornate Rococo-revival style, featuring a frame decorated with a fluted ribbon bow crest, floral sprays, and foliate scrolls. The reverse is fitted with a fiberboard backing and a gold-coloured rectangular adhesive label is present which reads MADE IN ITALY. The frame itself is also incised to the lower metal edge with the word ITALY. The second mirror is an oval Baroque-revival style piece with a molded composition frame finished in a dark bronze tone. This frame is decorated with deep-relief acanthus leaf scrollwork and features a black-painted backing plate with a single circular hanging ring. No manufacturer marks or brands are legible on this item.

Condition report:

The gilt-finished Italian mirror frame is well-preserved with minor scuffing to the fiberboard backing (photo 3). The bronze-toned oval mirror has several visible chips to the finish on the lower right edge, revealing a light-coloured substrate (photo 1, 5). The mirror plates on both pieces appear clear and free from foxing.
