This lot comprises two hand-painted ceramic figurines produced by Kevin Francis Ceramics. The first figurine is titled The Toby Jug Collector and portrays a seated gentleman in 18th-century style attire, including a blue frock coat and a yellow floral-patterned waistcoat, holding a miniature green Toby jug and a book titled British Toby Jugs. It is accompanied by a cream certificate of authenticity with blue borders which identifies the piece as hand-made and modelled by the sculptress Peggy Davies in a limited edition of 1000. The documentation further states that the figure depicts the Portobello Road antique dealer Vic Schuler and includes the printed reference K.3, a signature for Kevin J. Pearson, and a copyright notice for 1988 Kevin Francis Ceramics. The second figurine is titled The Drunken Parson and is part of the Replica Collection series. It depicts a parson in black and white clerical dress with a white wig and a black tricorn hat worn askew, holding a white mug with red floral decoration. According to the accompanying certificate of authenticity, which features green borders, the piece is the third in the series and was modelled by Carl Peers in a limited edition of 250 worldwide. The certificate carries the signature of Rhodri Davies and is marked KEVIN FRANCIS ESTABLISHED 1987. The parson figurine stands approximately 9.5 inches tall according to the printed documentation.
