An Art Deco wood cased mantel clock constructed with a dark-stained wood case featuring a stepped architectural profile and a rectangular base. The clock incorporates a square dial with a silvered chapter ring, black Arabic numerals in a stylised font, and a wood panel centre matching the case. It is fitted with a chrome-plated bezel and glass door, housing a three-train mechanical movement with three winding arbors. The movement is designed for Westminster chimes, striking on four horizontal gong rods. Central J. Additional markings on the plate include the characters 12cm and 190,6. The lead-weighted pendulum bob is cast with a matching eight-pointed star device.
Condition report:
The wooden case displays general surface wear, scuffs, and small finish losses, particularly around the lower edges and base corners (photo 1). The silvered chapter ring shows light oxidation, minor surface marks, and accumulated dirt (photo 2). The movement is dusty but appears complete, though one chime hammer is missing its leather or felt striking pad (photo 4). The glass door has surface grime and carries adhesive paper tags from previous handling (photo 1). The clock is sold as untested.
