A contemporary style rectangular painted metal fire pit spark guard and portable grill. The piece is constructed in a truncated pyramid form featuring a metal frame, possibly steel or iron, with reinforced cross-bracing to the top and sides. The panels are filled with expanded metal mesh designed to contain embers and sparks while functioning as a cooking surface or safety cover. A central aperture is present at the apex of the top cross-brace which originally accommodated a handle, now absent. The item has a black finish and is designed for utilitarian outdoor use with various portable grill or fire pit models. There are no maker’s marks or stamps visible on the object.
Condition report:
The item is in used condition with significant signs of outdoor exposure and heat wear. Extensive surface oxidation and rust are visible along the frame edges, welded joints, and throughout sections of the mesh (photo 1). The black painted finish is heavily worn, pitted, and chipped in multiple locations across the structure. The central top handle is missing (photo 1).
