A collection of artworks by Robert Ulmann and Peter including watercolours and a floral oil painting. This group consists of several framed and unframed works featuring botanical and Australian wildlife themes. Included are three framed natural history watercolours on paper depicting a koala, a wombat, and a platypus, each executed with a naturalistic style and tonal washes. These pieces are signed ROBERT ULMANN in dark ink to the lower left or right of the composition and are housed in wooden frames with tiered multi-tonal mounts. The collection also features an unframed still life oil on canvas study of pink and white roses, signed Peter in brown cursive to the upper right quadrant. An additional framed needlework piece is included, showing a cross-stitch study of red poppies on a light-coloured fabric, presented behind glass in a dark wood frame with a gilt inner slip and a green mount.
Condition report:
The unframed oil painting by Peter displays significant brown foxing and circular spots of discoloration across the entirety of the reverse of the canvas support (photo 5). The three framed watercolours by Robert Ulmann appear in good overall condition with no visible foxing or damage to the paper surfaces (photos 3, 4, 7, 8). The needlework piece shows no visible faults to the embroidery or fabric, with only minor surface wear noted to the wooden frame (photo 6).
