This collection of four Australian landscape watercolours on paper features scenes by artists Diana Watson and E. Graham. Two larger works depict homesteads nestled among eucalypts, executed with soft washes in a traditional style. Both Watson pieces are signed Diana Watson in the lower left corner. The verso of one Watson work bears a stamp for DIANA WATSON WATERCOLOUR ARTIST XANADU GALLERY 179 ANNETTS PARADE MOSSY POINT 2537 (VIA BATEMANS BAY) (044) 71-8202 along with a handwritten inscription No. 4/99 MOREE (8×10). These are mounted in cream-coloured mats within dark wood frames. The remaining two smaller works show coastal or lakeside views with distant mountains, each signed E. Graham in the lower right. One Graham piece includes a verso inscription LAKE BUMINTON NEAR WILLAURA and a gallery label for ARTAFACT Incorporating AusFraming GALLERY · PICTURE FRAMING ART SUPPLIES · GIFTS 501 Main Road (Sovereign Hill Intersection) Ballarat, Vic., 3350. These are framed in dark wood with dark green mats and gold inner slips.
Condition report:
The cream-coloured mats of the Diana Watson works exhibit light age-related toning (photos 2, 3, and 5). Minor surface scuffs and shelf wear are present on the wooden frames (photos 1 and 4). There is a small amount of dust visible behind the glass of some frames (photo 5). The watercolour paintings appear to be in good overall condition with no evidence of foxing, fading, or moisture damage.
