A collection of mid-to-late 20th century vintage handbags and evening clutches including croc-embossed and snakeskin-effect examples. This lot comprises a variety of handbag styles featuring structured frame bags with snap closures, shoulder bags, and pouch-style clutches. The materials utilised include leather, synthetic fabrics, and embossed skins in crocodile, lizard, and snakeskin textures. Notable design elements include mottled tortoiseshell-effect plastic frames and handles, and gold-tone metal hardware. The assortment displays a range of colours including tan, brown, red, burgundy, black, mustard yellow, and silver. No manufacturer or retailer marks were identified on the individual pieces. The collection is housed in a blue plastic crate and a cardboard box.
Condition report:
The lot is in used vintage condition with visible wear throughout. Scuffing and surface loss are present on the corners and edges of the structured bags (photo 2). The leather shoulder straps and pouch bodies show creasing and softening (photo 4). Minor tarnishing and loss of finish are visible on the gold-tone metal hardware (photo 5). All items exhibit general dust and age-related wear from storage.
