This lot comprises a pair of two white painted furniture items comprising a shield back armchair and a console table. Both pieces are finished in a modern, thick opaque white paint over a wooden frame, obscuring the underlying grain. The armchair features a Neo-classical style shield back with a central lyre-form splat surmounted by a carved wheat sheaf motif, finished with serpentine open arms. The seat is upholstered in a contemporary dark teal damask-patterned velvet and the chair stands on four square tapered legs. The accompanying console table or dressing table features a serpentine-fronted top above a single frieze drawer, which is decorated with a raised floral and foliate scrollwork applique. The table is supported by four cabriole legs, each featuring acanthus leaf carvings at the knees. No manufacturer labels, stamps, or marks are visible on either piece. This lot comprises the furniture items only; the books, shelving, vacuum cleaner, and other interior items shown in the background of the images are not included.

Condition report:

Both items appear structurally sound but show signs of surface wear to the modern painted finish. The console table top exhibits a prominent circular mark to the left side and scattered minor surface scuffs across the surface (photo 6). The painted finish on both the table and chair shows small chips and light grime, particularly concentrated on the drawer edges, leg extremities, and armrests (photos 7 and 9). The dark teal velvet upholstery on the armchair remains in good order with no significant staining, tears, or visible wear to the fabric pile.
