Sold

A framed limited edition print by John Chancellor, titled ‘Easterly Haze’. The work depicts a maritime scene of historical sailing vessels navigating choppy waters in Torbay, including the frigates Pomone and Endymion circa 1805. The print is hand-signed by the artist in blue ink to the lower left margin and is numbered ’89/850′. The lower margin contains the printed title ‘Easterly Haze’ and the location ‘Torbay’, while the upper margin is printed with ‘Published by Triton Publications Torquay England’. An embossed blind stamp for the Fine Art Trade Guild featuring the letters ‘LFB’ is present in the lower left corner of the mount. The print is presented in a double-layered textured mount and a giltwood frame. The reverse of the frame features a descriptive label from ‘Alexander Gallery Fine Art Dealers, 122 Whiteladies Road, Clifton, Bristol’, which provides historical context for the scene. The gallery label is further inscribed with the date ’23rd July 1990′. An additional adhesive label providing hanging instructions is also attached to the backing board.

Condition report:

The print and frame appear to be in good overall condition. No foxing, toning, or fading is visible to the print surface. The gilt frame shows minor surface scuffs and small losses to the gilding along the edges and corners, consistent with age and handling. The backing paper and informative labels are intact.
