A large gilded framed maritime print by Frank Shipsides titled The Tall Ships at Dartmouth. The artwork depicts a three-masted tall ship at anchor in a harbour setting, surrounded by smaller sailing vessels and rowboats against a coastal town backdrop. The piece is professionally mounted with a multi-layered cream mat featuring gold and green ruled lines, housed under glass in a decorative gilded wooden frame. A printed title box at the bottom of the work reads ‘The Tall Ships at Dartmouth’ and ‘Frank Shipsides’. The top margin is inscribed ‘Published by Alexander Gallery Publications Ltd, Bristol, England’. The reverse of the frame features an adhesive gallery label for ‘ALEXANDER GALLERY FINE ART DEALERS’ at ‘122 Whiteladies Road, Clifton, Bristol BS8 2RP’, which includes a handwritten date of ’23rd July 1990′. An additional white adhesive label provides detailed hanging instructions for the piece.
Condition report:
The print appears to be in excellent condition with no visible evidence of foxing or environmental fading (photo 1). The gilded frame exhibits only minor superficial wear and light scuffing consistent with its age, but remains structurally sound (photo 1). The backing board, hanging wire, and gallery labels remain intact and secure on the reverse (photo 2).
