A mid-century modern style ash or elm armchair with a loose upholstered cushion. The armchair is constructed from solid wood with a natural light-finished grain, featuring a curved backrest with six vertical slats. This backrest is surmounted by a horizontal rail finished with rounded finials, a design element echoed in the outward-curving armrests. The seat is formed by a slatted wooden frame designed to accommodate a square loose cushion. The cushion is upholstered in a cream-coloured fabric with a repeating wavy textured pattern. The structure is supported by four tapered legs, with the front legs being straight and the rear legs slightly canted. No manufacturer labels, stamps, or marks are visible on the wooden frame or the underside of the piece.
Condition report:
The armchair is in good overall condition with minor signs of wear consistent with age and use. There are light surface scuffs and minor scratches visible on the lower sections of the tapered legs (photo 3) and to the ends of the armrest finials (photo 1). The wooden frame appears structurally sound and the slatted seat shows no visible damage (photo 4). The upholstered cushion is free from obvious stains, tears, or significant wear in the provided images (photo 2).
