This lot comprises a solid oak trestle dining table and a set of six Chinoiserie style dining chairs, including four side chairs and two carvers. The dining table is constructed from solid oak with a light natural finish, featuring a substantial plank top with breadboard ends and visible finger-joint construction at the edges. The table is supported by an X-frame trestle base joined by a central longitudinal stretcher. The chairs are crafted with dark-stained hardwood frames and feature burr-wood effect veneers on the high, narrow back splats. Each splat is decorated with a carved geometric motif resembling Oriental fretwork at the top. The frames include curved scroll-top backs and cabriole style front legs terminating in scroll feet. The drop-in seats are upholstered in a vibrant blue velvet-effect fabric. No manufacturer marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the table or the chairs.
Condition report:
The dining table shows general surface wear across the top, including light scratches and minor indentations consistent with domestic use (photos 1, 3). The set of chairs shows significant visible wear to the frames, with scuffing, scratches, and finish loss most notably on the armrests of the carvers (photo 8) and the legs (photos 10, 11). The blue velvet-effect upholstery appears to be in fair condition with some light surface pile wear visible (photo 9). All pieces appear structurally sound.
