This lot comprises four ornate floral repoussé tea service items, including a teapot, a double-handled sugar bowl, a cream jug, and a matching spirit burner stand. The pieces are constructed from German silver, a nickel silver base metal alloy, and feature dense chased floral and foliate decoration throughout their bodies. The teapot, sugar, and creamer each stand on four small cast feet, while the cylindrical stand features a pierced body with vertical slats and a wire-frame support at the top. A central spirit burner with an adjustable wick mechanism is housed within the stand. The underside of the teapot, sugar bowl, and cream jug are each impressed with the two-line mark GERMAN SILVER. No manufacturer marks or silver hallmarks are present.
Condition report:
Extensive tarnishing and oxidation are present across all components (photo 1). Surface wear is visible to the finish, particularly in areas of high relief (photo 1). The base of the spirit burner stand shows multiple small dents and surface distortions (photo 1), and minor bending is evident on the small cast feet of the service pieces (photo 1). The spirit burner exhibits signs of previous use with a charred wick (photo 2). Light surface scratches and signs of handling are visible throughout, consistent with age.
