Start price: £5

Estimated price: £5 - £10

Buyer's Premium: 20%

Sold for: £3

A pair of two Victorian style carved dark wood side chairs featuring ornate cresting rails heavily carved with scrolling foliate motifs and central cartouches. Each chair is constructed with an inset rectangular upholstered backrest and matching padded seat, finished in a cream-coloured damask fabric with a woven floral pattern and coordinating decorative gimp trim. The frames are supported by decorative turned front legs with ring and bulbous detailing, terminating in metal casters, while the rear legs are square-sectioned and slightly splayed. The construction exhibits traditional late 19th-century joinery techniques. No maker marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the exposed woodwork.

Condition report:

The chairs are in good overall condition. The upholstery is intact and clean with only minor surface wear and faint discolouration visible to the fabric (photo 1). The wood finish displays typical light scuffs, scratches, and minor indentations, notably around the feet and stretchers (photo 2). The casters are present and appear functional.
