This lot comprises fifteenth United Kingdom commemorative five-pound coins and nine empty circular plastic capsules, presented in two display trays. The coins are struck in silver-toned and gold-toned cupro-nickel or plated base metal. The group features various commemorative themes, including the 2019 Falcon of the Plantagenets from the Queen’s Beasts series, the 1900-2000 Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother centenary issue, and multiple 1952-2022 Platinum Jubilee commemoratives featuring the Royal Arms and a 70 cypher. Also included are a 2023 King Charles III Coronation five-pound coin, a 2006 Vivat Regina 80th birthday issue, a 1953-2018 Coronation Anniversary issue, and a 1998 Prince of Wales 50th birthday coin. The obverses display portraits of Queen Elizabeth II with the Latin legend ELIZABETH II D G REG F D, while the Charles III issue features the King’s first coinage portrait. The coins are housed in one black velvet-lined presentation box and one blue velvet tray.
Condition report:
The coins appear to be in uncirculated or proof-like condition with full mint lustre and no visible wear through the protective plastic capsules (photos 2, 4, 5, 6). The capsules show minor superficial surface scratching and dust accumulation (photo 3).
