An ornate Rococo style gilt finished composite wall mirror featuring a rectangular clear glass plate. The frame is constructed from gilt-finished composite moulding over a pine sub-frame, decorated with heavy scrolling acanthus leaf, floral, and bead-and-reel motifs with a dark antiqued wash. The frame has been modified with a wide inset border of magenta glitter and a narrow inner slip of red velvet surrounding the mirror plate. The reverse is fitted with a modern hardboard backing panel. No maker marks, signatures, or manufacturer labels are visible on the frame or the backing. The frame is fitted with a metal D-ring to the reverse for wall mounting.
Condition report:
The mirror is in good overall condition. The frame exhibits minor surface wear and small chips to the gilt finish consistent with age and use (photo 1). The magenta glitter and red velvet borders are modern decorative additions. The clear mirror plate shows no visible foxing, spotting, or significant silvering degradation (photo 1). The hardboard backing and mounting hardware appear secure (photo 2).
