Fortnightly Auctions Of Antiques, Collectables, General Furniture and Effects. New Lots Added Daily.
This lot comprises a collection of framed artworks featuring a variety of subjects including wildlife, figurative studies, and stylised illustrations. The collection contains a print by Sam Toft titled ‘Ernest, Doris, Horace and Stripes’ as indicated by the printed text in the lower-left margin. A watercolour and ink study of a bear cub is signed vertically in the lower-left margin with the name ‘Paternoster’. A depiction of a barn owl on a stump is marked to the centre right as ‘P. Hinds’. A night scene featuring an owl in a tree bears a faint signature in the lower right that appears to read ‘Simon’ followed by an illegible surname and the year ‘1997’. The assortment further includes a panoramic piece depicting a row of stylised colourful roosters, a small work showing a pride of lions. The works are presented in diverse frames including natural wood and white-painted timber.
Condition report:
The collection appears to be in overall good condition. Minor dust accumulation is visible beneath the glazing on several pieces, particularly the panoramic rooster illustration (photo 8). There is superficial wear and minor scuffing to the edges and corners of the various frames, most notably on the natural wood examples (photo 1 and 6). No visible foxing or damage to the paper supports is evident from the photographs.
