A collection of international banknotes including examples from Italy, Greece, Zimbabwe, Singapore, and the UK. This lot features an Italian 10,000 Lire note dated 3 Settembre 1984, printed with the portrait of Alessandro Volta and the Tempio Voltiano. The Greek selection includes three 100 Drachmae notes dated 1978, a 500 Drachmae note dated 1983, and a 1000 Drachmae note dated 1987, featuring various historical and mythological figures including Athena and Apollo. Representing Africa is a 1995 Zimbabwean 100 Dollar note depicting the Chiremba Balancing Rocks. The Asian currency comprises two Singaporean one-dollar notes, including one from the Orchid series and one from the Bird series. Completing the group is a Bank of England one-pound note featuring Queen Elizabeth II and Isaac Newton. The notes are printed on paper with complex security backgrounds and carry various serial numbers including TF 592827 R, GX 5996930, and D/64 654508. The UK pound note is housed in a wrinkled protective film.


Condition report:

The collection is in circulated condition with signs of handling throughout. The Singapore Orchid one-dollar note displays heavy foxing, deep staining, and multiple creases (photo 5). The UK one-pound note is encased in a wrinkled plastic sleeve with significant discoloration and warping visible underneath (photo 6). The Italian 10,000 Lire note shows soft centre folds and minor corner wear (photo 1). The Greek notes exhibit light to moderate circulation folds and minor corner rounding (photos 3 and 4). The Zimbabwean 100 Dollar note has a prominent vertical fold and fraying at the top right edge (photo 6).
