** This lot comprises six commemorative medals from a strictly limited edition of 1,765 complete collections worldwide, issued to mark the 250th anniversary of the HMS Victory. The medals are minted to a proof standard and are luxuriously plated in 24ct gold. Each medal is housed in its own individual protective acrylic capsule. The obverse designs feature high-quality colour illustrations and engravings of naval scenes, Admiral Horatio Nelson, and the ship itself. Visible inscriptions on the medals include 250TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE HMS VICTORY, LAUNCHED 7 MAY 1765, HORATIO NELSON, BATTLE OF TRAFALGAR, and HMS VICTORY. The collection is housed in a wooden presentation case with a blue felt-lined interior. Accompanying the medals is a Certificate of Ownership from the Windsor Mint, certificate number 000725, which certifies that the collection is complete though this set only contains six of the intended twelve medals. The certificate carries a printed signature for J. Fantl Windsor Mint and bears the reference 196-220-7 GB.

Condition report:

** The medals are in excellent proof condition, preserved within their original protective capsules. The wooden presentation case shows light surface wear and minor scuffing to the exterior surfaces (photo 1). The Certificate of Ownership has visible discoloration, foxing, and staining, particularly along the edges and corners (photo 3). It is noted that the set is currently incomplete, containing six medals in a case that is designed to hold twelve (photo 1).
