A collection of five vintage heavy-winter coats and jackets, primarily constructed from natural sheepskin and suede. The group includes a full-length chocolate brown suede coat with a wide notched shearling collar and three circular buttons; a mid-length tan suede coat featuring a contrasting dark brown shearling collar and angled welt pockets; and a mid-length dark brown faux-fur style coat with leather-piped lapels. Also included is a cream-coloured high-pile shearling coat with dark brown leather piping to the collar and pockets, and a hip-length mid-brown suede jacket featuring patch pockets with piped openings. One item retains a red circular adhesive label to the hanger reading PETITE FIT 10 FOR 5 foot 3 inches, and another features a black plastic hanger cap printed with WORKWEAR X LARGE. The garments show various construction techniques including exterior stitched panelling and loop buttonhole closures.
Condition report:
The collection shows signs of heavy wear and significant soiling consistent with age. The chocolate brown coat (photo 1) exhibits prominent dark staining and heavy dirt accumulation to the lower front panels and cuffs. The tan coat (photo 2) shows surface marking and light staining to the suede. Staining and dark spotting are visible on the left chest and sleeve of the mid-brown jacket (photo 5). General surface wear, matting to the wool interiors, and natural variation in the suede texture are present across all items.
