Lot 108: A Victorian Style Mahogany Three Tier Hanging Wall Shelf With Two Drawers

This auction ended on September 30, 2026.

Start price: £8

Estimated price: £8 - £20

Buyer's Premium: 20%

Sold for: £115

A Victorian style three tier hanging wall shelf constructed from mahogany or a similar stained hardwood. The unit features three open shelves supported by side panels of intricate geometric fretwork in a Chinese Chippendale aesthetic. The base of the unit contains two short drawers, each fitted with a brass ring-pull handle. The interior of the drawers shows natural wood grain and evidence of previous use. Six brass hanging tabs are fixed to the reverse for wall mounting, located at the top and bottom corners and at the centre points of the top and bottom horizontal rails.

Condition report:

The top surfaces of all three shelves show multiple prominent circular marks and ghosting rings consistent with water or heat damage (photo 2). General surface wear and dust accumulation are visible throughout the pierced fretwork panels and in the crevices of the joinery (photo 3). The drawer interiors exhibit dark staining and scattered marks (photo 2). There are minor scuffs and surface scratches to the edges of the wooden frame (photo 1). The brass hardware displays a natural aged patina and areas of tarnish (photo 4).
