This lot comprises two cartographic prints of varying styles and subjects. The first item is a reproduction of a seventeenth-century double-hemisphere world map, printed on a coarse, burlap-effect fabric backing. The top margin bears a printed title reading NOVA TOTIUS TERRARUM ORBIS GEOGRAPHICA AC HYDROGRAPHICA TABULA Auct. Henr. Hondio. The map features elaborate allegorical borders depicting the four elements and portraits of historical cartographers, with an intentional aged toning applied to the substrate. The second item is a monochrome map of the River Thames, oriented vertically, showing the river’s course from London through to the estuary. Surrounding the central map are four topographical inset views including the Tower of London, London Bridge, Greenwich, and Chelsea Hospital. The print features German text at the bottom left reading von Schloß Windsor bis zur Mündung. The Thames map is housed in a modern black wooden frame with a white card mount.

Condition report:

The world map reproduction shows intentional fraying and loose threads along the top and side edges of the fabric backing (photo 2). It is unframed and suspended by two metal hooks and twine. The Thames map is presented in a modern black frame which shows light scuffing to the edges (photo 3). The print itself shows minor uniform toning but no visible foxing or tears. A vertical light reflection is visible on the glazing of the Thames map (photo 3), which is not a defect of the print itself.
