A single-stone solitaire engagement ring constructed from 18ct yellow gold with a white metal setting. The ring features a round brilliant-cut diamond, held within an eight-prong crown-style illusion setting. The shoulders of the shank are tapered and incorporate decorative pierced detailing just below the setting. The interior of the gold shank is marked with a series of hallmarks, including a readable crown symbol and the numerical mark 18, confirming the gold purity. Additional marks include the characters A H followed by two further obscured stamps in rectangular and rounded punches. The white metal setting is likely platinum or white gold, common for the period and style of this piece.
Condition report:
The ring exhibits moderate wear consistent with age and regular use. Surface scratching and scuffing are visible across the yellow gold shank (photo 1). The setting shows an accumulation of debris behind the diamond and within the openwork shoulders (photo 5). Minor wear is noted to the metal surrounding the prongs, though the stone appears secure (photo 4). No ring size or weight is visible from the provided images.
