Sold for: £55
A vintage dress ring featuring a central oval-cut blue stone, appearing to be a sapphire or blue spinel, bezel-set within a tiered yellow metal band. The shoulders of the ring are designed with a textured, layered aesthetic, each shoulder containing two grain-set small clear stones, which may be diamonds or white zircons. The metal is yellow gold-toned, though no hallmarks or maker’s marks are visible to confirm the purity or origin of the piece. The construction features a solid shank that tapers slightly towards the back. The central stone is held securely in a rubbed-over bezel setting.
Weight: 3.08g.
Condition report:
The ring shows signs of significant wear consistent with age, including surface scratches and minor abrasions to the metal (photo 3). One small clear side stone is missing from its setting on the upper shoulder (photo 3). There is an accumulation of dirt and residue around the stone settings and within the recessed areas of the tiered shoulders (photo 4). The central blue stone appears intact but exhibits light surface wear to the facets (photo 4).
