A nine carat yellow gold oval locket and fine trace link necklace chain. The locket is constructed from yellow metal with an engraved scrolling foliage design to the front, featuring two applied white metal five-petal flowers. Each flower is set with a small clear stone, possibly a diamond chip. The locket opens on a side hinge to reveal two oval compartments lined with black fabric and a clear protective cover. An incised mark reading ‘375’ is visible on the underside of the fixed bail, indicating nine carat gold fineness. The accompanying fine trace link chain is secured with a spring-ring clasp and measures approximately 45cm in total length. The combined weight of the locket and chain is 2.55g.
Condition report:
The locket exhibits significant surface scratching and scuffs to both the front and back consistent with frequent use. The hinges and clasp are functional and secure. One clear stone in the lower flower appears slightly recessed compared to the upper stone. The chain links appear straight and free from kinks or visible repairs. The internal black liners show minor wear.
