Sold for: £110
A diamond trilogy-style crossover ring, constructed with an 18ct yellow gold shank and a platinum head. The setting features three round-faceted diamonds arranged vertically in a tiered, asymmetrical gallery. The interior of the shank is incised with the marks 18ct & PLAT, indicating the metal fineness of the two components. The design reflects an early twentieth-century aesthetic, likely produced between 1915 and 1935. The ring weighs 2.56 grams in total. The diamonds appear to be older cuts, such as early brilliant or transitional cuts, chosen to complement the white metal setting.
Condition report:
The yellow gold shank shows significant thinning at the base and light surface pitting consistent with long-term wear. There is general surface scratching to both the gold and platinum components. The milgrain detailing on the gallery shows signs of smoothing and softening from age. The diamonds appear secure in their settings. The ring has not been professionally cleaned.
