Sold for: £100
A yellow metal dress ring set with a large emerald-cut blue gemstone, possibly a blue topaz or synthetic sapphire. The ring is constructed from 9 carat yellow gold, featuring a high-profile basket setting with decorative pierced Celtic style knotwork to the shoulders. The central gemstone, measuring approximately 12mm x 10mm, is secured by four double-claws. The interior of the shank is stamped with a series of hallmarks, including the fineness mark ‘375’ indicating 9 carat gold, alongside an anchor symbol for the Birmingham Assay Office and a date letter. The ring has a total weight of 5.06 grams.
Condition report:
The ring is in moderate used condition. The gold shows significant surface tarnish and oxidation, particularly to the setting and the interior of the shank, and would benefit from professional cleaning. The shank is slightly misshapen and out-of-round. The gemstone exhibits surface abrasions and minor nibbles to the facet edges consistent with regular wear.
