Sold for: £160
A vintage 9 carat yellow gold signet ring featuring a rectangular head with a hand-engraved cursive monogram. The shoulders are decorated with chased geometric and foliate engraving typical of the early twentieth century. The interior of the band is struck with a full set of British hallmarks including the maker’s mark ‘HBS’ for Herbert Bushell and Son Ltd, the gold fineness mark ‘9 .375’, the anchor town mark for Birmingham, and the date letter ‘c’ for the year 1927. The ring weighs 6.03 grams.
Condition report:
The ring shows surface scratches and wear consistent with age, with some softening to the engraved details on the head and shoulders. There is a visible seam and slight distortion to the back of the band where it appears to have been resized, and the shank shows characteristic thinning from long-term wear. No major dents or structural breaks were observed.
