A collection of vintage kitchenalia and household items, primarily constructed from enamel-coated metal, brass, and stoneware. The group includes a set of white-enameled balance scales featuring a brass-coloured frame and a corresponding collection of graduated brass weights, alongside a separate set of nesting iron weights. Identified brands include Tala, appearing on a red and white tin printed Cooks Dry Measure and a cream-coloured enamel measuring jug marked Tala MADE IN ENGLAND. The assortment also contains a green and cream tin printed with PASTRY CUTTERS, a rectangular green cigarette tin for SILK CUT VIRGINIA marked THE GREYS, and a large ceramic stoneware hot water bottle with a screw-top stopper. Further stoneware includes a two-tone glazed jar and a smaller lidded condiment pot. An amber glass bottle is moulded with the text CUSENIER FRANCE. The collection is completed by a turquoise-painted metal flower frog and a small, ribbed clear glass jar.
Condition report:
The items show visible signs of age and utility consistent with domestic use. Chipping to the white enamel is visible on the scale pan (photo 1). The lithographed tins, including the pastry cutter and cigarette tins, exhibit surface oxidation, scratches, and minor paint loss (photo 1). The brass and iron weights show a dark natural patina and surface pitting (photo 2). The ceramic stoneware pieces display minor staining and crazing to the glazes (photo 3). The amber glass bottle has some residue or surface marking near the neck (photo 2).
